Seahorse Swim School Make-up Policy

Each student is allowed, but not guaranteed, one make-up lesson per registered session that must be scheduled during the session that they missed. To schedule your make-up lesson, please talk to the Site Supervisor on deck. If your child missed the day before make-up day and you were unable to talk to the Site Supervisor, please use the ‘Contact Us’ link on your account to email admin during office hours and we will try to contact the Supervisor to get you scheduled on your behalf.

For sessions that are M-Th, make-up days will be on Fridays. For sessions that are M-W, make-up days will be on Thursdays. We will cancel make-up days that fall on a holiday, on weeks where lessons are already pushed back a day to account for a holiday, or that conflict with another prescheduled event.

Make-up lessons are scheduled based on instructor and site supervisor availability. There will only be one 30-minute make-up time scheduled that will fall inside the morning lesson schedule and one 30-minute make-up time scheduled for afternoon lessons at each site. You are not guaranteed to get your usual lesson time or regular lesson instructor for make-ups. Make-ups are on a first come-first served basis and can fill up, so please talk to your Site Supervisor promptly to get scheduled.

Seahorse Class Assignment Procedure

(Children Enrolled in the Wrong Age Class may be removed with no refund)

Little Fish (3-5 year old):

Each Little Fish (3-5 year old) class allows up to six registered participants. The registered students will be split into two groups of three, each group of three will have their own instructor. Groups are based on levels/skills as much as possible to keep students with peers. The instructor will teach each student based on their current level. This means that students in the same group, will be working on similar skills but may not always be working on the same skills. This also means that if you are registered for multiple sessions, you are not guaranteed to get the same instructor for each session.

Once a student has completed all skills for their current level, the instructor will notify the Site Supervisor who will update the student’s account to reflect their new level.  The instructor will immediately start teaching skills for the student’s new level. This means students do not have to move class or change instructor mid-session if they level up.

Big Fish (6-12 year old):

Each Big Fish (6-12 year olds) allows up to eight registered participants. The registered students will be split into two groups of four and each group will have its own instructor.

Beyond Lessons:

Once your student is at least 5 years of age and can swim 50 yards (2 lengths of the competition pool) freestyle with side breathing and 25 yards (1 length of the competition pool) back stroke, your swimmer is qualified to move out of swim lesson into one of our other programs: Summer League (seasonal intro to competitive swim) or Clovis Swim Club (year-round competitive swim for Novice to Olympic level swimmers). Links and information to these programs can be found at www.clovisaquatics.captynsites.com

All patrons will be notified by email as soon as possible about any of these changes.

-       Your student is welcome to rinse off following lessons if showers are available. Do not allow student, siblings, or anyone else to play in the shower.

Please keep in mind:

All of our instructors have gone through our training program. However, please take into consideration that our employees are seasonal, mostly high school or college aged and for most of them this is their first job. The instructors are learning as much about teaching swimming as your student is learning about becoming a swimmer. If you have questions or concerns beyond ‘How’s my student doing?’ please talk to the Site Supervisor. Your patience and kindness is appreciated.
